Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished manuscripts that are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process before being considered for publication.

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

Document Format

  • Use either LaTeX (preferred) or Microsoft Word
  • Single column format for initial submission
  • Double spacing throughout the manuscript
  • Page numbers and line numbers are required
  • Recommended fonts: Times New Roman, Arial, or Computer Modern
  • All pages should be letter size (8.5" × 11") or A4

Manuscript Structure

All manuscripts should include the following sections:

  1. Title page: Title, authors, affiliations, corresponding author email
  2. Abstract: 200-250 words summarizing the paper
  3. Keywords: 4-6 keywords or phrases
  4. Introduction: Background, motivation, and objectives
  5. Related Work: Literature review and comparison with existing approaches
  6. Methodology: Detailed description of methods, algorithms, or theoretical frameworks
  7. Results: Experimental results and analysis
  8. Discussion: Interpretation of results and implications
  9. Conclusion: Summary of findings and future work
  10. Acknowledgments: Optional section for acknowledging support
  11. References: List of cited works
  12. Appendices: Optional supplementary material

Figures and Tables

  • Figures should be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi)
  • All figures and tables must be numbered and have descriptive captions
  • Place figures and tables in the text near where they are first referenced
  • For final submission, provide figures as separate files in EPS, TIFF, or PNG format
  • Ensure all text in figures is legible when printed
  • Color figures are encouraged, but ensure they are also readable when printed in grayscale

Citations and References

JSCI uses the IEEE citation style. References should be numbered in the order they appear in the text.

  • In-text citations should be in square brackets [1]
  • Multiple citations should be comma-separated [1, 2, 3]
  • Reference list should appear at the end of the paper
  • Include DOIs whenever available
  • For papers with more than 6 authors, list the first 6 followed by "et al."

Ethical Guidelines

Research Ethics

All research involving human subjects, animals, or biological materials must adhere to established ethical standards:

  • Research involving human subjects must have appropriate IRB/ethics committee approval
  • Animal studies must comply with institutional and national guidelines
  • Informed consent must be obtained for studies involving human participants
  • Privacy and confidentiality of participants must be protected

Authors must include ethics statements in their manuscripts detailing approvals obtained.

Publication Ethics

JSCI adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics:

  • Submitted work must be original and not published elsewhere
  • Plagiarism, data fabrication, and image manipulation are strictly prohibited
  • All authors must have contributed significantly to the research
  • Conflicts of interest must be disclosed during submission
  • Authors must promptly report errors or inaccuracies discovered after publication

Frequently Asked Questions

JSCI accepts manuscripts in PDF, DOC, or DOCX formats. For initial submission, a single PDF file containing all text, figures, and tables is preferred. After acceptance, authors will be asked to provide source files (LaTeX or Word) along with high-resolution figures.

The peer review process typically takes 4-6 weeks. Initial editorial screening is completed within 1-2 weeks of submission. If sent for full peer review, it usually takes an additional 3-4 weeks to receive reviewer feedback. Authors can track the status of their submission through our online system.

JSCI is an open-access journal that charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) after acceptance. The current APC is $1,500 USD. Fee waivers and discounts are available for authors from low-income countries and early-career researchers. Please see our Open Access Policy for complete details.

Yes, authors may suggest up to 5 potential reviewers or request the exclusion of specific individuals during the submission process. Please provide names, affiliations, and email addresses for suggested reviewers. The editors will consider these suggestions but are not obligated to follow them.

After acceptance, authors will receive detailed instructions for the production process. This includes:

  1. Submitting final source files (LaTeX or Word)
  2. Providing high-resolution figures
  3. Completing copyright and license forms
  4. Reviewing proofs before publication
  5. Paying the Article Processing Charge (if applicable)

The production process typically takes 2-4 weeks after all materials are received.
