Peer Review Process

All papers submitted to JSCI are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. A paper is accepted when the reviewers’ recommendations are positive.

Initial screening: The Editor-in-Chief evaluates each paper to decide whether its topic and content suit the journal. Papers that do not meet the minimum criteria are returned to the authors within 2 to 3 weeks of receipt, so authors can correct the problems or choose a more suitable venue.

Peer review: Papers that pass the initial screening are assigned to an editor, who selects referees for their expertise in the field. At least two referees evaluate the manuscript under a single-blind process. Referees assess originality, novelty, clarity, completeness, significance, soundness of methodology and research contribution, and are expected to finish within 3 to 4 weeks.

Author revisions: Based on the referees’ comments and the editor’s recommendation, the Editor-in-Chief decides to accept, request a minor or major revision, or reject the paper, and sends the decision to the authors together with the referees’ reports. Authors have 2 to 4 weeks to submit a revision with a response to the reviewers.

Copy editing, layout and proofreading: Accepted manuscripts are copy-edited and typeset. Authors receive PDF page proofs for comment and approval, and a DOI is assigned at publication.

Changes after publication: Please check the final proofs carefully. Published articles can be corrected only through a Corrigendum or Erratum, which is linked to the original article. After collecting the refees'reports, the Associate editor considers the reviews and makes a recommendation on the acceptability of the paper to the Editor-in-chief.

Make a submission

JSCI is a peer-reviewed journal. This statement clarifies the ethical behaviour of all parties involved in publishing an article in the journal: the authors, the editors, the peer reviewers and the publisher. This statement is based on [COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors; confirm].

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behaviour for all parties involved in publishing: the authors, the journal editors, the peer reviewers, the publisher and the society.

SecureAI Labs, as publisher of JSCI, takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously and recognizes its ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, consultancy or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. SecureAI Labs and the Editorial Board will also assist in communications with other journals and publishers where this is useful and necessary.

Duties of Editors

Publication decisions

The editors of JSCI are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the editorial board and constrained by legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play

An editor should at all times evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content, without regard to the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished material disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to editorial decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communication with the author, may also help the author improve the paper.

Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript, or who knows that a prompt review will be impossible, should notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly, with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that the authors have not cited. Any statement that an observation, derivation or argument has been reported before should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also draw the editor’s attention to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and conflict of interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies or institutions connected to the paper.

Duties of Authors

Reporting standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.

Data access and retention

Authors may be asked to provide the raw data connected with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data where practicable, and to retain it for a reasonable time after publication.

Originality and plagiarism

Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and that any work or words of others are appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication

An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time is unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of sources

Proper acknowledgement of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Authorship of the paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Others who participated in substantive aspects of the project should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors, and no inappropriate co-authors, are included, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version and agreed to its submission.

Hazards and human or animal subjects

If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript. Research involving human or animal subjects, or sensitive data and security testing, must follow the relevant ethical approvals and legal requirements.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of the work. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

  • Complaints and Appeals HandlingJSCI is committed to handling all complaints and appeals submitted by authors, reviewers or other relevant parties in a transparent and fair manner. Each complaint will be reviewed by the editorial board and, if necessary, an independent party will be involved to ensure an objective decision. Appeals may be submitted if there is an indication of errors in manuscript evaluation or inconsistencies with the journal’s policies. A final decision will be made after careful consideration, in accordance with academic publishing ethics guidelines.
  • Policies on Conflicts of Interest / Competing InterestsJSCI implements strict policies on conflicts of interest to maintain the integrity and objectivity of scientific publications. Authors, editors and reviewers are required to disclose any potential conflict of interest, whether financial, professional or personal, that may influence the assessment or publication decision of a manuscript. JSCI will review all disclosed conflicts of interest and take appropriate action, including reassigning reviewers or editors if necessary.
  • Policy on Ethical OversightJSCI is responsible for ensuring compliance with research and publication ethical standards. Each submitted manuscript is reviewed from an ethical perspective, including the use of human or animal subjects, ethical approvals and data disclosure. If any ethical violation is identified, the journal will take the necessary measures, such as requesting clarification from the authors, retracting the article or reporting the findings to the relevant institutions.
  • Policy on Intellectual PropertyJSCI respects the intellectual property rights of all authors and other relevant parties. All published manuscripts must comply with copyright regulations and must not contain any intellectual property violation. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work is original and that they have the right to use any material included in the publication. The journal will review any suspected violation and take the necessary action in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Options for Post-Publication Discussions and CorrectionsJSCI provides a mechanism for readers, authors and the scientific community to discuss published articles. If factual or technical errors are found in a publication, authors may submit corrections that will be evaluated by the editorial board. The journal also welcomes constructive academic commentary and research replication. If significant errors affecting the validity of the research are identified, the journal reserves the right to publish corrections, retraction statements or article updates in accordance with its editorial policies.

JSCI provides immediate open access to its content, on the principle that making research freely available supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles are free to read, download and share, with no subscription or registration needed.
